Adrian Newey says that his future plans will not be affected by whether or not his Red Bull Racing team is successful in winning the world championship.
The highly-rated designer said on the eve of this season that he was seriously considering his future in the sport, after admitting that he was tired of ever restrictive technical regulations.
However, on the back of a return to form for his car as it fights with Brawn GP for the world title, Newey has hinted that he is likely to stay in Formula 1 for a little while yet.
"I don't think what happens this year will affect what I do in the future," he said in an interview with the official Formula 1 website.
"I still tremendously enjoy Formula 1, but at some stage I would like to be involved in another area outside of motor racing before I reach pension age."
Newey said that he was enjoying being back at the front of the grid, after all the efforts he and his team put into its RB5 design.
"It obviously feels very good, however the irony is that it never feels as though you are doing anything different," he said.
"We continue to work hard and be intelligent with our resources and it is extremely rewarding that this year the fruits of this determination are at last being realised."
