Bruno Senna says he is close to securing a Formula 1 seat for 2010.
The nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna tested extensively for Honda last year and was hotly tipped for a drive with the team in 2009 before the parent company pulled out.
He was then strongly linked with the second Brawn seat before team boss Ross Brawn decided that Rubens Barrichello's experience would be more valuable given the lack of pre-season mileage.
Having missed out a 2009 F1 deal, Senna raced in a handful of sportscar events - including Le Mans - for the French ORECA team, but says his management have been working hard on opportunities for 2010 and expect to make an announcement shortly.
"Our latest talks proved even more exciting," he said.
"Everything keeps going well and the pace of negotiations has increased in the last few weeks.
"I’m looking forward to having good news in the coming days."
Although Senna has not been publicly linked with any of the established F1 teams, the arrival of new squads Lotus, US F1, Campos and Manor next season opens up new possibilities for drivers knocking on the door of the top level.
Senna is to continue his preparations for next year by returning to GP2 to assist his former team iSport in testing later this week.
The 26-year-old Brazilian came close to the championship in the F1 feeder series last year
