Teixeira linked with Campos role

A1GP boss Tony Teixeira has been linked with a deal to buy into the new Campos Grand Prix team, with the Spanish outfit considering options to bring in outside investors.

Campos Meta is pressing on full speed ahead with its preparations to join the grid in 2010, but having not yet signed off all the sponsorship deals it needs, it is looking at other potential revenue streams - which includes bringing an investor on-board.

Sources have revealed that one of the options being looked at is for Teixeira to buy a part of the team – which would give the outfit a financial boost on the eve of the season.

It is understood that Teixeira is one of several interested parties that the team is in talks with as it works on finalising its 2010 budget.

Teixeira has made no secret of the fact that he has looked at options within Formula 1 – having been one of the parties interested in buying the former Honda team at the beginning of 2009.

Speaking in February last year, Teixeira told AUTOSPORT: "I was one of the guys talking to Honda in the last two weeks. We had done a deal on Spyker, but I let Vijay [Mallya] take it... We then went to Toro Rosso in November and all the [other] teams said 'no customer cars' so I had to walk away.

"Today I'm in a completely different situation. I've built my own cars and designed my own chassis. I have my own factory. So I'm not a customer boss. I can now build my chassis and run with a Ferrari engine. I'm now the same as everyone else."

Dallara is finishing off the Campos Meta car, which the team hopes to run for the first time in February – even though it may not make the first test at Valencia.

Bruno Senna is the only driver who has been confirmed by Campos so far, with the team continuing negotiations with a second driver.
